“Successful Shipment of World’s Largest Land-Based Coral Nursery Marks Major Milestone in Environmental Conservation”

Aquaculture Africa AFRAQ 2024, one of the leading events in the seafood industry, concluded recently in Hammamet, Tunisia at 19-22 November. We are delighted to announce that ADEC participated in this significant event, showcasing its latest innovations and engaging with industry professionals.

ADEC has successfully awarded a contract for the turnkey-ready delivery of life support systems for the world’s largest and most advanced land-based coral nursery project led by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). The KAUST Coral Restoration Initiative (KCRI) at Haddah Beach, on the shores of the Red Sea in NEOM, is not just a project, but a mission to conserve, restore and enhance 100 hectares around Shushah Island. It will serve as a center showcasing global efforts to restore and protect coral reefs, underlining the urgent need for such initiatives in the face of environmental challenges.

The project is a testament to innovation, incorporating a wide range of cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, AI, high-performance computing, autonomous robotics, marine science, remote health monitoring, and data science. Currently in the design and engineering phase, the project aims to combine coral conservation, protection, enhancement, and restoration. This contract not only demonstrates ADEC’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also marks a significant step forward in the development of KCRI.

ADEC’s scope of work includes designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning life support systems for the primary nursery facility. Spanning a vast area, the project comprises approximately 400 tanks. Among these are production tanks specifically designated for coral growth, alongside quarantine tanks dedicated to coral preservation. Additionally, the facility features a quarantine system tailored for fish, as well as tanks allocated for the acclimatization of new corals. To ensure optimal conditions for marine life, the project incorporates comprehensive water preparation and treatment systems. This project is a cornerstone in sustainability, highlighting its important role in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices in coral farming.

We are delighted to announce that ADEC participated in this significant event, showcasing its latest innovations and engaging with industry professionals.

Alpentherme Gastein, located in Salzburg, Austria, is gearing up to celebrate its 20th anniversary with an extraordinary renovation project. Currently a 12-meter-high water cinema is set to transform its multimedia dome into a captivating underwater world, home to approximately 500 marine creatures, corals, and various fish species. The upcoming aquarium will feature 300 cubic meters of seawater and 85 square meters of water surface area providing a habitat for an array of marine life. In the end, visitors will have the opportunity to swim through a mesmerizing 9-meter-long tunnel surrounded by water and corals, coming face to face with colorful fish.

Alpentherme Gastein’s upcoming aquarium renovation will include acrylic tunnel, spanning 8 meters in length, offering visitors an immersive journey through the aquatic wonderland. ADEC’s scope of work encompasses acrylic supply and installation, manufacturing, and installation of Life Support Systems (LSS), underwater theming, waterproofing of the aquarium, the supply of aquatic animals and operational training. This comprehensive effort ensures the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology, resulting in a world-class aquatic habitat that prioritizes the well-being of its marine life.

The 20th-anniversary celebration culminates in the grand opening of the aquarium in September, promising an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. Stay tuned for more information and updates about this significant project.
